If you’ve been putting off gardening, rasisng chickens, preserving food, having dairy animals or any type of homesteading/self suffeciency, now’s the time to invest in yourself and your family and jump right in! We are here to help you avoid all the pitfalls we had at the beginning and to give you the best chance of success right away.

What's included in the Self Sufficiency Series- Gardening 101 package:

  • Direct access to us through submitted questions

  • Meat and potatoes type learning through recorded zoom calls

  • 4 week course-1 hour live zoom call per week (will also be recorded and available for later listening). 30 min of content and 30 min of answering submitted questions. Calls on Thursdays at 4:00 pm-Feburary 10, 17,24 & March 3, 2022

Agenda

 

Week 1- Soil ID and Amendments

Learn why soil is important, how to test what type you have and amendments you may need. Discuss what type of gardening may be best for you. Raised bed, in-ground, or containers. Even inside growing! We will also touch on plant nutrition.

 

Week 2-Planting Windows and Seed Selection

Learn what seed types are best for your zone and growing spaces. Learn how to select your seeds and know-how to wade through all the varieties! Then learn WHEN to plant them, which ones do best direct-seeded, and which are best as transplants.

Week 3-Pest and Disease

Learn what to look for to stave off pests and diseases as well as what to do about it once it is already a problem.

 

Week 4- Seed Starting and Transplants (growing and purchasing)

Now for the fun part! Getting those little plants growing! Which seeds are best to plant directly, their requirements. Also an intro to growing and buying transplants. The types and planting suggestions.
